REHIDRAT is an electrolyte replacement powder / drink, which to my understanding contains the perfect combination of sugars, salts and minerals that we need whilst exercising.

REHIDRAT can be taken before, during and after activity, but I’m sure, like all things, best to be taken in moderation. They do openly market that the product is suitable for the whole family.

My trail runs, I usually pop a sachet or two into my water bladder, all depending on the amount of water that I want to carry. I don’t feel that I get a kick or boost from this, but rather, it helps to keep me from hitting those awful low’s.

Many an unprepared tourist tackling our Cape Town trails, in particular, Platteklip Gorge, has been saved by REHIDRAT. I find myself regularly stopping to help top up their limited water supply from my backpack and I always tear open a sachet of REHIDRAT and pour it in for them. Our harsh African sun can catch tourists and locals completely off guard.

In my experience, hydration is so important and replacing what we loose, crucial to maintaining one’s ability to perform and keep moving forward. This said, I don’t rely on REHIDRAT alone, so I go into demanding runs with an eating plan as well.
